Nutcracker 2025
SDDT's 32nd annual Nutcracker performances will take place this year on Saturday December 6th at 7:00pm and Sunday December 7th at 1:00pm, with mandatory dress rehearsals on Friday December 5th at 6:00pm and Saturday December 6th at 12:00pm. ​
South Dayton Dance Theatre (a not for profit organization) is pleased to offer a professional performing opportunity, in their production of The Nutcracker, to all South Dayton School of Dance students who are in Ballet 1 and up, and free to commit to the entire mandatory rehearsal schedule.
Please be informed that ALL Nutcracker Rehearsals are Mandatory! Dancers are permitted 1 excused absence from a Nutcracker rehearsal provided that the date is given on the audition form prior to auditioning (cannot be during an in-studio dress rehearsal, dress rehearsal or performance). Any other absence from a scheduled Nutcracker rehearsal will result in your child no longer being able to participate.
A $100.00, per student, audition fee is to be paid via the form below prior to the audition. This fee now includes a commemorative Nutcracker T-shirt for all dancers.

Hair Requirement Information & Video Tutorial
Dancers must abide by all hair requirements for in-studio dress rehearsals, dress rehearsals at the Masonic Center, and all Performances. No Exceptions.

We understand that many of you are new to performance hair and makeup. Please just try your best! This is why we have dress rehearsals, to help work out the kinks prior to performance day!

Last year, over 2,000 people attended our performances during Nutcracker weekend.
Our annual Snowflake Soiree also provides the dancers an opportunity to celebrate their hard work and thank their supporters on the opening night of the Nutcracker.​

BAND Communication App
for communication regarding non-company participation in Nutcracker we use the BAND app.
It is required that at least one parent/guardian join the BAND for Nutcracker for ease of communication BAND is an app where Parents and SDDT Moderators can communicate in an open forum. Through the app you can ask questions, store files, privately chat with moderators, sign up for volunteer opportunities and more!
BAND is our main method of communication for Nutcracker, however some information regarding important forms or events will also be emailed to you.
Costume Care Information
Costume for our Nutcracker will be fit to your dancer during one of their weekly rehearsals in either September or October. Please click the link below to view more information regarding costumes.

Nutcracker Program Advertisement for Businesses
This holiday season, South Dayton Dance Theatre, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, will present its annual production of The Nutcracker, a beloved tradition that draws families from across the Dayton area. With over 2,000 audience members attending across multiple performances, your business has the opportunity to reach a large, loyal, and family-oriented audience.

Non Company Nutcracker Audition Form
Non-Company Nutcracker auditions will take place at South Dayton School of Dance on Saturday September 6th.
​
Dancers must be enrolled in ballet classes at SDSD to audition. Dancers should wear their leotard, tights, ballet shoes and hair secured in a bun.
​
Audition Schedule:
Ballet 1 - 1:30-2:00pm
Ballet 2 & 3 - 2:00-2:30pm
Ballet 4+ - 2:30-3:00pm
Parent Volunteer Sign-Up
Each dancer is required to have a parent/guardian volunteer to supervise non-company dancers for one time slot at an in-studio rehearsal and one time slot
during our dress-rehearsals or performances during our show weekend.
If you have 2 dancers participating you are responsible for double the requirement
